We received a phone call at work today supposedly from Duke Energy. It was a recorded message stating that our power would be disconnected in 30 minutes due to nonpayment and left a phone number of 1.800.489.0210. We were fairly sure it was inaccurate at the very least, so we called and the whole thing sounds very legit! But eventually it became clear it was a scam. I called the real Duke Energy and reported it, they are aware of the scam. Unfortunately some folks have already fallen for it and paid. So I’m taking the opportunity to make you aware there is a scam going on!!! Feel free to share!!
